Ketamine Insurance & Payment in Baltimore

Self-pay, stated plainly — with every pathway to make care affordable.

Ketamine therapy insurance in Baltimore, stated plainly: at Vita Nova, ketamine infusion therapy ($499.99 per session; $375 for members) and iron IV are self-pay — we don't bill insurance. Ketamine is used off-label and insurers denied the large majority of claims, so we moved to transparent self-pay pricing. We provide an itemized superbill you can submit to your own insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and accept HSA/FSA, CareCredit, and in-house payment plans. Vitality Circle membership takes 25% off every session ($375 mental health, $1,125 chronic pain). Iron IV, NAD+, IV vitamin therapy and IM shots follow the same self-pay policy. Every infusion is anesthesiologist-led care, under the medical direction of Dr. Brijen Joshi MD, a Johns Hopkins faculty anesthesiologist — and not everyone is a candidate; you'll be told clearly at your consultation. Call (443) 563-1059.

01 Insurance Overview

Does Insurance Cover Ketamine Therapy in Baltimore?

💡

At Vita Nova, ketamine and iron IV are self-pay — we do not bill or accept insurance for them. Ketamine is used off-label, and insurers denied reimbursement on the large majority of claims, so we moved to a transparent self-pay model. We provide an itemized superbill you submit to your own insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement, plus HSA/FSA, CareCredit, in-house payment plans, and 25%-off membership.

The honest answer is that Vita Nova does not accept insurance for ketamine infusion therapy or iron IV infusion — both are self-pay. IV ketamine is administered off-label for depression, PTSD, anxiety, OCD, bipolar depression, and chronic pain, and iron IV, while medically legitimate for anemia, was repeatedly denied by insurers when billed. After insurance declined to reimburse the large majority of these claims, we made the deliberate choice to stop billing insurance entirely and offer transparent self-pay pricing instead. That decision keeps our scheduling, pricing, and care predictable for every patient.

You are not left on your own with the cost. For any treatment, we provide a complete itemized superbill — with diagnosis and procedure codes — that you can submit to your own insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. We also accept HSA and FSA cards, offer CareCredit financing and in-house payment plans, and the Vitality Circle membership takes 25% off every session. Wellness drips, NAD+, and IM vitamin shots are elective and self-pay as well, and are often HSA/FSA eligible.

Self-Pay, With a Superbill

Vita Nova bills nothing to insurance. For every treatment you can request an itemized superbill to submit to your insurer yourself for possible out-of-network reimbursement — reimbursement depends on your plan and is not guaranteed. Questions? Call (443) 563-1059.

What We Bill, What You Pay — The Honest Breakdown

Vita Nova is a self-pay clinic — we don't bill insurance for any treatment. The table shows how each option is paid, whether it's HSA/FSA eligible, and where a superbill applies for your own out-of-network claim. Questions? Call (443) 563-1059.

⚠️ Reimbursement Is Never Guaranteed

A superbill lets you attempt an out-of-network claim with your own insurer, but whether you're reimbursed — and how much — depends entirely on your plan, diagnosis, and deductible. Some patients recover a meaningful portion, others little or none. Vita Nova bills nothing to insurance and makes no guarantee of reimbursement.

03 Off-Label Explained

Why Isn't Ketamine Infusion Covered by Insurance?

Insurance rarely reimburses IV ketamine infusions because ketamine is prescribed off-label for mental health and pain. Ketamine is FDA-approved as an anesthetic, and decades of research support its use for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and chronic pain — but the FDA has not formally approved it for those mental health and pain indications. Insurers generally reimburse only FDA-approved, on-label uses, so ketamine infusions usually fall outside standard coverage.

This is a coverage technicality, not a reflection of whether the treatment works. Off-label prescribing is legal, common, and evidence-based across all of medicine. In practice it means the cost of ketamine infusions is the patient's responsibility — and at Vita Nova, rather than fight insurers who denied the large majority of claims, we made treatment predictable through transparent self-pay pricing and multiple payment pathways.

Out-of-Network May Still Help You

If you have out-of-network mental health benefits, some plans reimburse a portion of ketamine infusion costs after your deductible. Vita Nova provides an itemized superbill so you can submit that claim yourself. Ask your insurer about out-of-network behavioral health benefits before your first visit.

04 Iron IV Infusion

Iron IV at Vita Nova — Self-Pay, With a Superbill

🩸

Iron IV is often covered at clinics that bill insurance, because it's an FDA-approved treatment for iron-deficiency anemia. Vita Nova does not bill insurance for iron IV — like ketamine, it's self-pay here. You receive an itemized superbill to submit to your own insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and iron IV is HSA/FSA eligible.

Iron infusion therapy delivers iron directly into your bloodstream to correct iron-deficiency anemia quickly, and is commonly recommended when oral iron supplements haven't worked, aren't tolerated, or can't raise iron levels fast enough. It treats a diagnosed medical condition with an FDA-approved therapy — which is why many clinics that bill insurance are reimbursed for it. Vita Nova, however, stopped billing insurance after insurers denied the large majority of our claims, so iron IV here is self-pay like everything else.

How Self-Pay Iron IV Works at Vita Nova

1

Transparent self-pay pricing — you'll know the full cost up front, with no surprise insurance denials or balance bills after the fact.

2

Itemized superbill provided — with your diagnosis and procedure codes, so you can file an out-of-network claim with your own insurer.

3

You submit the claim — reimbursement depends on your plan, diagnosis, and deductible, and is not guaranteed. Some patients recover a portion; others don't.

4

HSA/FSA eligible — iron IV can be paid with pre-tax HSA or FSA funds, and CareCredit or an in-house payment plan can spread the cost.

Transparent Self-Pay Pricing

No prior authorizations, no step-therapy delays, no denied claims — just clear pricing and a superbill if you want to pursue reimbursement. View self-pay pricing → or call (443) 563-1059.

05 Tricare & Military

Tricare & Military Families — Self-Pay, Plus a Heroes Discount

Vita Nova proudly serves active-duty military, veterans, and their families — but we do not bill or accept Tricare. Like all of our ketamine and iron IV care, treatment is self-pay, and Tricare generally treats off-label IV ketamine as investigational in any case. Rather than route you through a coverage process that typically ends in denial, we keep pricing transparent and give you two concrete ways to save.

First, military families qualify for our Community Heroes discount on self-pay rates, regardless of coverage. Second, we provide an itemized superbill you can submit to Tricare yourself for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Call (443) 563-1059 to discuss self-pay pricing, the Heroes discount, and how the superbill works for your situation.

🎖️ Community Heroes Discount

Active-duty, veterans, and military families receive discounted self-pay rates through our Community Heroes program. Mention your service when you call or book — the discount applies whether or not you pursue any reimbursement.

06 Superbills & Out-of-Network Reimbursement

Superbills — How to Pursue Reimbursement Yourself

Because Vita Nova is self-pay, we don't submit claims to insurance — but we make it straightforward for you to try. After payment, we provide a complete itemized superbill with diagnosis and procedure codes that you submit to your own insurer. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may recover part of your cost even though nothing was billed on your behalf.

Reimbursement amounts vary widely by plan, deductible status, and diagnosis — some patients recover a meaningful portion, others little or none. Before your first visit, ask your insurer two questions: "Do I have out-of-network behavioral health benefits?" and "What is my out-of-network deductible?" The answers tell you what to realistically expect.

We Provide the Paperwork — You File the Claim

Vita Nova supplies the itemized superbill you need to submit an out-of-network claim. We can't bill your insurer or guarantee what they'll reimburse, but we make sure you have everything required to file a clean claim yourself.

Insurance & Payment — Common Questions

Does insurance cover ketamine therapy in Baltimore?
At Vita Nova, no — ketamine infusions are self-pay, and we do not bill or accept insurance for them. Ketamine is used off-label for depression, PTSD, and pain, and insurers denied reimbursement on the large majority of claims, so we moved to a transparent self-pay model. We provide an itemized superbill you can submit to your own insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement, though reimbursement is not guaranteed. HSA/FSA cards, CareCredit financing, in-house payment plans, and 25%-off Vitality Circle membership keep treatment accessible. Call (443) 563-1059 for self-pay pricing.
Why isn't ketamine infusion therapy covered by insurance?
Ketamine is prescribed off-label for mental health and pain. It is FDA-approved as an anesthetic, and strong research supports its use for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and chronic pain, but the FDA has not formally approved it for those specific conditions. Because insurers typically reimburse only FDA-approved, on-label uses, ketamine infusions fall outside standard coverage. This is a billing technicality, not a judgment on whether treatment works — off-label prescribing is legal, common, and evidence-based across medicine. At Vita Nova, ketamine is self-pay, with itemized superbills provided for out-of-network claims.
Does insurance cover iron IV infusions?
Iron IV is often covered at clinics that bill insurance, because intravenous iron is an FDA-approved treatment for iron-deficiency anemia. Vita Nova, however, does not bill or accept insurance for iron IV — like ketamine, it is self-pay here. We made this choice after insurers denied reimbursement on a large volume of claims. You still receive an itemized superbill to submit to your own insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and iron IV is HSA/FSA eligible. Call (443) 563-1059 for transparent self-pay pricing.
How much does ketamine therapy cost in Baltimore?
Ketamine infusion therapy at Vita Nova is $499.99 per session, or $375 for Vitality Circle members ($99.99/month). A Complete Series of six infusions is $2,849.94, or $2,250 with membership, and includes three complimentary hydration IVs. Chronic-pain infusions use a longer protocol at $1,499.99 per session. IV vitamin therapy ranges from $139.99 to $499.99, and NAD+ IV from $374.99 to $999.99. All treatment is self-pay, with HSA/FSA, CareCredit, and in-house payment plans available. See full pricing at vitanovawellnessclinic.com/ketamine-therapy-cost-baltimore/.
Can I use HSA or FSA for ketamine therapy?
Yes. HSA and FSA cards are accepted at Vita Nova for ketamine infusions, iron IV, and most wellness services. Ketamine therapy for a qualifying mental health condition generally meets IRS medical-expense criteria, so HSA/FSA funds let you pay with pre-tax dollars — effectively lowering your net cost. Plan rules vary, so confirm eligibility with your HSA or FSA administrator before your visit.
Does Vita Nova accept CareCredit?
Yes. Vita Nova accepts CareCredit for ketamine infusions, iron IV, and all wellness services. CareCredit offers promotional financing that lets you spread treatment costs over time — helpful for a Complete Series of six infusions, which totals $2,849.94 at standard self-pay pricing. Apply at carecredit.com and bring your card to your first visit at 513 Bayview Blvd, Canton, Baltimore MD 21224.
Can I get reimbursed by my insurance for ketamine?
Possibly, if your plan includes out-of-network benefits. Vita Nova is self-pay and does not bill insurance, but we provide a complete itemized superbill with diagnosis and procedure codes that you submit to your insurer yourself for possible partial reimbursement. Amounts vary widely by plan, deductible, and diagnosis — some patients recover a meaningful portion, others little or none. Before your visit, ask your insurer whether you have out-of-network behavioral health benefits and what your out-of-network deductible is.
Are in-house payment plans available?
Yes. Vita Nova offers in-house payment plans structured to each patient's situation — there is no fixed template, minimum, or set number of installments. The goal is to keep self-pay treatment accessible regardless of financial circumstances. Discuss your needs during your telemedicine consultation, or call (443) 563-1059 before your first visit.
Does Tricare cover ketamine therapy?
Vita Nova does not bill or accept Tricare — like all our ketamine and iron IV care, treatment is self-pay. Tricare also generally treats off-label IV ketamine as investigational. Military families still benefit two ways: you qualify for our Community Heroes discount regardless of coverage, and we provide an itemized superbill you can submit to Tricare yourself for possible reimbursement. Call (443) 563-1059 to discuss self-pay pricing and the Heroes discount.
