Your complete new patient guide — from consultation to your ride home
What should I expect at my first ketamine appointment in Baltimore?
Vita Nova's new patient guide covers what to expect at your first ketamine visit in Canton, Baltimore. Anesthesiologist-led ketamine care runs from $375 per session for Vitality Circle members ($499.99 non-member) in a monitored clinic visit lasting about 2 hours door-to-door. A first infusion follows a fixed sequence: a consultation in person or via telemedicine, intake forms completed digitally at home, arrival 30 minutes early, no food for 4 hours beforehand, an infusion of roughly 40 minutes monitored continuously by an on-site clinical team of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and Nurse Practitioners — anesthesiologist-led care, under the medical direction of Dr. Brijen Joshi MD — then monitored recovery and a required driver home; you cannot drive yourself. Ketamine therapy is self-pay with transparent pricing and an itemized superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement. For clinic overview see ketamine therapy in Baltimore. Start with a consultation — book online or call (443) 563-1059. You'll discuss what brought you here, your treatment history, and whether ketamine therapy fits your situation. Prefer not to come in first? The telemedicine consultation covers the same ground from home.
Your medical history, current medications, and mental health or pain history are reviewed under protocols set by our medical director. Every treatment plan at Vita Nova is anesthesiologist-led, under the medical direction of Dr. Brijen Joshi MD — a Johns Hopkins faculty anesthesiologist. If ketamine therapy isn't appropriate for you, we'll tell you directly and discuss alternatives.
Once your first infusion is scheduled, intake forms are sent to you electronically. Complete them at home before your appointment — it takes a few minutes and means your visit starts with care, not paperwork.
Three things to lock in: no food for 4 hours before your infusion, arrange a driver for your ride home, and follow any medication guidance your care team gave you at the consultation — some medications have specific timing instructions, and your team will confirm exactly what applies to you. Wear comfortable clothing.
Arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled infusion. Free parking is available on-site at 513 Bayview Blvd in Canton. After check-in, your clinical team completes a brief pre-infusion assessment — vitals, how you're feeling, and any questions you have before starting.
A small IV is placed and your infusion begins. Mental health protocol infusions run about 40 minutes; chronic pain protocols use higher doses over longer infusions, with sessions running about 4 hours. Throughout your session, you are continuously monitored by our on-site clinical team of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and Nurse Practitioners. Your care is anesthesiologist-led, under the medical direction of Dr. Brijen Joshi MD.
Most patients describe a dream-like, floating sensation — thoughts and perceptions can feel different, distant, or unusually vivid. Some people find it deeply relaxing; others find it strange at first. These dissociative effects are an expected part of how ketamine works, they are monitored throughout, and they begin to fade shortly after the infusion ends. You remain in the treatment chair, and your clinical team is with you the entire time.
After the infusion, you rest in the clinic while the acute effects wear off. Your team monitors you until you're cleared to leave with your driver. Most patients feel back to a clear-headed baseline the same evening — plan a quiet rest of your day, with no driving, work decisions, or heavy commitments.
Your driver takes you home — no driving for the remainder of the day. Mild tiredness or lightheadedness in the hours after a session is common and passes. Eat normally once you're home, hydrate, and rest.
Some patients notice shifts in mood, thought patterns, or pain within hours to days of their early infusions; for others, changes build gradually across the series. Your care team checks in on your response and adjusts the plan as needed — and with your consent, treatment summaries can be shared with your referring therapist, mental health prescriber, or physician so ketamine therapy integrates with your ongoing care.
Most mental health patients complete a Complete Series of 6 infusions — $2,849.94 non-member or $2,250 for Vitality Circle members, including +3 complimentary hydration IVs — scheduled over several weeks at a cadence your care team sets with you. Chronic pain patients typically follow the Relief Series of 4 infusions: $5,699.96 non-member or $4,500 members, with +4 complimentary hydration IVs. Single sessions start at $375 for members ($499.99 non-member) for mental health and $1,125 for members ($1,499.99 non-member) for chronic pain.
All ketamine therapy is self-pay with pricing published upfront. Every patient receives an itemized superbill to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and HSA/FSA funds are accepted. Vitality Circle members pay $375 per mental health session and $1,125 per chronic pain session, with series pricing at $2,250 (Complete) and $4,500 (Relief). Community Heroes discounts are available for veterans, first responders, nurses, teachers, and seniors 65+. Full details on the ketamine therapy cost guide.
