Informed Consent at Vita Nova Ketamine & Wellness Clinic

Your Safety, Autonomy, and Understanding Come First

At Vita Nova Ketamine & Wellness Clinic in Baltimore, we prioritize patient education, transparency, and fully informed decision-making. Before beginning any treatment, every patient participates in a structured informed consent process led by our clinical team. This ensures you understand the potential benefits, risks, and alternatives associated with your care.

Understanding Ketamine Therapy: Experimental & Off-Label Use

Ketamine infusion therapy for mental health conditions—including depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and others—is considered an off-label treatment. This means it is not currently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for these mental health uses, although ongoing research supports its potential benefits.

✅ However, SPRAVATO® (esketamine nasal spray) is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression and for major depressive disorder with suicidal thoughts or behavior, under strict REMS (Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy) guidelines.

We ensure that all patients are made fully aware of these distinctions during the informed consent process.

What to Expect During the Consent Process

Before receiving treatment at Vita Nova, you will:

  • Meet with one of our licensed medical providers to review your medical and psychiatric history

  • Receive a clear explanation of your treatment plan, including dosage, frequency, and monitoring protocols

  • Be informed about potential side effects, expected outcomes, and the experimental nature of ketamine for mental health

  • Have the opportunity to ask questions and take time to consider your options

  • Review and sign our detailed Informed Consent Form

  • Be offered a copy of the form for your records
