Dr. Brijen L. Joshi MD is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Chief of Thoracic Anesthesia at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He founded Vita Nova and leads the clinical team — every ketamine protocol is developed and overseen under his direct supervision, alongside Yvonne Achi CRNP, Co-Founder and Clinical Director.
Ketamine at Vita Nova is provided under the medical direction of a board-certified anesthesiologist at sub-anesthetic doses, with continuous cardiac and blood-pressure monitoring throughout every infusion. Dr. Joshi's anesthesiology training means airway, hemodynamic, and sedation expertise are built into every session — not added on. This is the same protocol foundation used in hospital settings.
LegitScript certified — fewer than 5% of U.S. ketamine clinics earn this. It verifies DEA registration, pharmaceutical sourcing, physician oversight, and advertising ethics. HIPAA compliant. Every credential is verifiable independently — not just listed on a homepage.

Ketamine therapy is an intravenous infusion of sub-anesthetic ketamine used to treat depression, mood, and chronic pain conditions that haven't responded to standard care. It works on the brain's NMDA glutamate receptors — a completely different mechanism from SSRIs and SNRIs — which is why it can help when conventional antidepressants have not. At Vita Nova, every infusion is administered under the direct supervision of Dr. Brijen L. Joshi MD, a Johns Hopkins faculty anesthesiologist, with continuous heart-rate and blood-pressure monitoring at 513 Bayview Blvd, Canton, Baltimore MD 21224. Call (443) 563-1059 for a consultation.
Ketamine therapy in Baltimore costs $499.99 per session for mental health, or $375.00 for Vitality Circle members (save $124.99). Chronic-pain infusions use a longer, higher-dose protocol at $1,499.99 per session ($1,125.00 for members). The Complete Series is six mental-health infusions for $2,849.94 ($2,250.00 for members) and includes three complimentary hydration IVs. Every session is all-inclusive: anesthesiologist-supervised care, a private room, continuous cardiac monitoring, and comfort and anti-nausea medications — no add-on fees. Ketamine is self-pay, with an itemized superbill provided for possible out-of-network reimbursement; HSA/FSA accepted. Community Heroes discounts apply for veterans, first responders, nurses, teachers, and seniors 65+. (443) 563-1059.
Ketamine therapy at Vita Nova is used for treatment-resistant depression (depression that hasn't responded to two or more prior medications), PTSD, OCD, bipolar depression, and anxiety with co-occurring depression. It is also used for chronic pain conditions including fibromyalgia, neuropathy, arthritis, sciatica, and other refractory pain. Whether ketamine is appropriate for your specific diagnosis is determined during a clinical intake with Dr. Joshi and the team — not every patient is a candidate, and you'll be told clearly before any commitment. See all conditions treated. (443) 563-1059.
Many patients notice some improvement in mood within hours to a few days of their first infusion — faster than conventional antidepressants, which can take four to six weeks. Relief in the early sessions is often temporary, which is why ketamine is given as a short series rather than a single dose. The fuller, more durable benefit typically builds over the initial course of infusions. Response varies from person to person, and some patients respond strongly while others see more modest effects. Your provider will review realistic expectations for your situation before treatment begins. (443) 563-1059.
A standard initial course is typically six infusions over two to three weeks, which research and clinical practice have found helps establish and sustain a response. After the initial series, some patients benefit from periodic maintenance or booster infusions spaced weeks to months apart, based on how they respond. The exact number is individualized — it depends on your diagnosis, severity, history, and how you respond to the early sessions. Dr. Joshi and the team will map out a personalized plan during your evaluation and adjust it as your treatment progresses. (443) 563-1059.
At sub-anesthetic doses, ketamine commonly causes transient dissociation (a sense of detachment or altered perception during the infusion), mild nausea, a temporary rise in heart rate and blood pressure, and in some patients vivid mental imagery. These effects usually resolve within 30–60 minutes of the infusion ending. Ketamine is not appropriate for everyone — it is generally avoided in patients with uncontrolled hypertension, active psychosis, certain cardiac conditions, or a history of ketamine misuse, all of which are screened during intake. At Vita Nova every infusion is monitored by a board-certified anesthesiologist, and a full risks disclosure is reviewed before treatment begins. (443) 563-1059.
Yes — a driver is required after IV ketamine infusion sessions. Because ketamine causes temporary dissociation and drowsiness, you cannot drive yourself home and should not operate machinery or make major decisions for the rest of the day. Arrange a ride, rideshare, or companion before your appointment. A driver is not required for IV therapy, NAD+ infusions, or IM vitamin shots, which do not impair you. Plan to rest for the remainder of the day after an infusion. (443) 563-1059.
Ketamine infusion therapy at Vita Nova is self-pay — we no longer bill insurance for ketamine. After each session we provide an itemized superbill you can submit to your own PPO plan (such as Cigna, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, or BCBS) for possible out-of-network reimbursement; approval is determined by your insurer, not the clinic. HSA and FSA funds are accepted. Iron IV infusions for iron-deficiency anemia are genuinely insurance-covered and can be verified for free. Community Heroes appreciation discounts apply for veterans, first responders, nurses, teachers, and seniors 65+. Call (443) 563-1059 to review your options before your first visit.
